YOU YANGS PRECINCT
Sitting proudly in the western plains of Melbourne, the You Yangs are the granite bookend to Greater Melbourne, past which the Western districts stretch to the South Australian border.
An area of outstanding and unique natural beauty, the rocky rise of the mountain range sits starkly amongst the flat grasslands. An area for adventure and relaxation, tourism and gathering, where local communities live and love, welcoming visitors to their beloved precinct.
Many movies have been filmed in the area, most famously Mad Max, Ned Kelly and The Dressmaker. The unique landscape of the You Yangs and surrounding plains of natural beauty offer wonderful locations less than an hour from Melbourne.
You Yangs Regional Park
Magnificent views, birdlife and a mecca for walkers, horse riders and mountain bikers - welcome to the You Yangs! The distinctive granite peaks of this park rise abruptly from the flat plains below. Flinders Peak and Big Rock have panoramic views out to Melbourne, which is just an hour away.
Flinders Peak Walk
Flinders Peak is the highest point in the You Yangs. Bring the family (and the dog) and climb 450 steps to reach Flinders Peak Lookout and a huge view of the western volcanic plains, Geelong and Melbourne. Bring a picnic or barbecue to round off your daytrip.
